岡田三郎助アトリエについて
岡田三郎助は、明治41(1908)年から昭和14(1939)年まで、現在の東京都渋谷区恵比寿で暮らし、制作に打ち込みました。
アトリエは、明治41年頃に、自宅に隣接して建てられた木造の洋風建築で、大正時代にはアトリエに接続する形で「女子洋画研究所」部分が増築されました。
岡田没後、アトリエと女子洋画研究所の建物は、公私にわたり親交が深かった洋画家の辻永に受け継がれ、辻家の人々によって今日まで大切に守られてきました。往年の姿を保ったまま現存する近代洋画家のアトリエとしては、国内最古のものといわれています。
佐賀県ではこの建物を「岡田三郎助アトリエ」として佐賀県立博物館東隣に移設・復原し、平成30年4月1日公開開始しました。
「岡田三郎助アトリエ」は、主に3つの部屋から成っています。
・アトリエ(53.14平方メートル)
岡田三郎助がアトリエとして使用し、数々の名作を制作した部屋です。
南側には、応接室(14.3平方メートル)が付属しています。
・女子洋画研究所(39.66平方メートル)
岡田が主宰した画塾「女子洋画研究所」の教室として使用された部屋です。
ここから、多くの女性画家たちが巣立っていきました。
Okada Saburosuke Atelier(岡田三郎助アトリエ)
The Okada Saburosuke Atelier next to Saga Prefectural Art Museum is a reconstructed art studio originally built in Shibuya, Tokyo, in 1908.It belonged to Okada Saburosuke(1869ー1939),a painter from Saga Prefecture who played a major role in the world pf modern Japanese art in the early twentieth century.Okada lived and painted in the house in Tokyo for around 30 years until his death.The atelier was then inherited by fellow painter Tsuji Hisashi(1884―1974),a friend and colleague,and was later used by Tsuji's son, also an artist.When the Tsuji family could no longer maintain the house,they decided to donate and relocate it to Saga, Okada's birthplace. It was carefully dismantled, transported,and reconstructed with original materials in 2018. Roughly 90 percent o the wood ant other materials came from the 1908 bulding.The atelier retains its early twentieth-century Western-style design,influenced by Europian and American architecture,with high ceilinga and a large skylight to let in natural light. Interior materials such as wallpaper and the original layout were recreated or restored based on old photos,and stains and scratches on the floor from Okada's time were preserved when possible.A selection of the artist's personal belongings, includind easels he used when painting,are displayed inside. The building also includes the annex that Okada added In 1926,which housed his Women's Institute of Western Painting.The house is one of the few remaining original artist residences from its era, and is open to the public. It is frequently used for exhibitions and other events. The atlier can be visited free of charge during the museum's opening hours.
Women's Institute of Western Painting(女子洋画研究所)
Prior to the establishment of the Institute, formal art education in Japan was male-dominated,and very few opportunities existed for women to study oil painting. Okada was influenced by Europian art movements of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries,in which many female artists played prominent roles,and aimed to create a similar environment in Japan. To open the school, Okada added an annex to his atelier in Shibuya,Tokyo. His institute's activities primarily offered training in the Yoga(Werstern-style)art movement,in which Okada was heavily involved. The style incorporates Western oil painting techniques,depicting landscapes and still lifes with attention to realistic depictions of light,shadow,and perspective. Okada became a pioneer of women's Werstern-style art education and contributed to broader Meiji-era(1868―1912)modernization and gender reform.Notable artists who emerged from the school include Migishi Setsuko(1905―1999)and Iwasaki Chihiro(1918―1974),who helped to elevate the status of female painters in Japan. Okada's atelier,along with the annex that housed the Institute,was relocated to Saga from Tokyo in2018. It now stands next to the Saga Prefectural Museum.

「岡田三郎助アトリエ」は、貸出しされている場合を除き、博物館の開館中、無料で自由に見学ができます。
特に「応接室」は、他の部屋が貸し出されているときも自由に出入りができます。
この応接室では、岡田三郎助が過ごしていた当時の調度類を復原していますので、往時の雰囲気を追体験していただけます。
また、フォトスポットとしてもご利用いただけます。岡田三郎助になったつもりで写真をお撮りください。
※なお、岡田三郎助アトリエを撮影した写真・映像を個人的使用以外の目的で使用される場合は、目的をお聞きし、又そのデータを確認させていただくことがあります。

見学時間 9時30分～18時00分
休館日 博物館休館日と同じ
「岡田三郎助アトリエ」は靴のまま入室できます。
ただし、木造建造物のため、床を傷つける履物や汚れた履物での入室はご遠慮ください。
博物館・美術館の玄関前や駐車場から車椅子で直接入室することもできます。
なお、傾斜地に建てられた建物の形状を忠実に復原しているため、「アトリエ」と「女子洋画研究所」との間には段差があり、内部を直接行き来することはできません。
ただし、建物の外側を通って簡単に行き来ができ、屋根があるので雨に濡れることもありません。
開館時間中は係員が常駐しておりますので、行き方がわからないときなどお気軽にお尋ねください。
くつろぎのスペース
女子洋画研究所では飲食ができます。
ミュージアムカフェTRESがすぐ近くにありますので、以下のような利用が可能です。
例)TRESからテイクアウトした食べ物や飲み物を飲食する。
例)女子洋画研究所で趣味の会を開催し、参加者がTRESのケーキ・ポットサービスを利用する。
もちろん、飲食せずに休憩場所としてご利用いただくことや、持参したお弁当や軽食をお召し上がりになることも可能です。

※ごみ箱はありません。食べ物の容器など、ごみは各自でお持ち帰りください。
※往時の調度類や壁紙があるため、「応接室」「アトリエ」では原則として飲食できません。

多目的の貸出し
岡田三郎助アトリエはさまざまな用途で活用していただくよう、一般に貸出しを行います。
貸出しを行うのは、岡田三郎助の作品の多くが制作された「アトリエ」と、岡田が主宰し、多くの女性洋画家を輩出した「女子洋画研究所」の2つの部屋です。
もちろん、2つの部屋を同時に使用することもできます。

文化的な雰囲気を活かしてミニコンサート 、各種撮影 、コスプレ、記念撮影 、マルシェなど
